Re: history of music from champaign
Hey, that could be a riddle. What does the Champaign scene have in common with British royalty?

Re: history of music from champaign
The keyboard player in my band - Three Chord Circus (Kevin McGuire) - has been compiling/writing a book on this over the last few years. He's interviewed a number of Champaign bands from the 70's already.

Also, I've been compiling a VCD of video clips of as many of these bands as I can get but there are a lot more I'd like to get ahold of.

Re: history of music from champaign
Ya have forgotten the 80's Roots Rock/ Power Pop band: the Outnumbered (Alisson Krauss actually played a fiddle on one of their songs when she lived here).
And the essential Lonely Trailer (80's/ 90's Alternative Rock).
And the new artists such as: Dank, Eleni Moraties, and Cougars.
And I'm ashamed of the early bands that made it big back in the day such as: REO Speedwagon and the short-lived, but the crappy progressive band called Starcasle.
Although, Hum kicks arse and the others are already mention.

civic
the guys from civic "tried out" steve from joyful sorrow (and formerly supporting actress and inlantic) years ago, but steve was too busy to commit (and not local at the time, still living in bloomington-normal).

so yes, some of us old timers do remember bands like civic! ;)
